| Document Designer is a product associated with the
LILAC software package which provides an efficient
Word Processing & Page Layout facility. The need for such a product is driven by the lack of an open document standard from any Microsoft product such as Word or Publisher. Documents created by Document Designer are stored in Lennox Computers External Tuple Representation (ETR) format, which is an open standard with published specifications, and more importantly is easily manipulated by Lennox Computers' GTL language programs, facilitating integration with the LILAC database for mail merge and other Customer Relation Management type applications. DD provides position-able and sizable text boxes with font, colour, pen & brush control. | Document Designer usually saves document images in Lennox Computer's
ETR format. This is a relational table (tuple) oriented format which is suitable
for efficient interaction with the LILAC database in mail-merge, and customer
relations management applications. Tag substitution is performed on fields in
the document from columns in the LILAC database in a straightforward
fashion which is much easier and faster than the MS Word mail-merge
processing. Document Designer also possesses a "Save as HTML" capability which can be used to create a HTML version of a Desktop Publishing design. This is a very exciting concept, as it brings true WYSIWYG presentation into web-site design for the first time. The accuracy and disciplined layout obtain is far superior to products like Microsoft Front-page. This entire web-site was authored using Lennox Computer's Document Designer. |

| Lennox Computer offer fully integrated electronic mail
merge, combining the LILAC database of names &
addresses with a powerful document authoring
capability within Document Designer. Form letters are authored and stored as ETR files using Document Designer to create a precise WYSIWG page layout incorporating, text, graphics and images from multiple sources. The LILAC Mailing List module can then bulk eMail a list of prospects, performing tag substitution in the document, and translating it into a HTML eMail body with accurate WYSIWYG reproduction of the ETR original. |
