associated with the LILAC 3
software package which
provides a very efficient
"Single Button" faxing
capability within many LILAC 3
WYSIWYG documents. A major benefit is that the fax phone number and recipient details are retrieved automatically from the Name & Address records in the standard LILAC 3 relational database. The LILAC 3 Fax Server is structured as a TCP/IP Client Server application for seamless network faxing support. The client program is invoked on a workstation computer and establishes a virtual circuit connection to the Fax Server program running on a suitable Windows XP computer with a Fax Modem and phone line installed. The images to be faxed are handed across the virtual circuit and queued for transmission via the standard Windows Fax queue facility. Fax Server will report back to the client program about success or failure of submission to the Microsoft fax queue. Actual success of transmission must be monitored via the Microsoft dialog boxes on the Fax Server computer. The faxing of attachments such as Word documents and Excel spreadsheets is supported, requiring the installation of a 3rd party meta-file printer driver on each workstation computer. |
